Day 204 on our 91 Days and Beyond of Intentional Living - Stronger & Wiser Journey...Today's Devotion: It's Just A "Nip"...Key Verse: Genesis 3:15...Background Reading...Genesis 3...Today's devotion shows us the OUTCOME of MISMANAGING the GARDEN of our LIVES by allowing OUTSIDERS to INTERPRET to US what God already EXPLAINED to US...it also shows how God is GRACIOUS to US even in OUR DISOBEDIENCE...this lesson GIVES a GREAT PERSPECTIVE on how we should VIEW the ATTACKS of the ENEMY.
1. To KEEP from MISMANAGING that which God has ENTRUSTED YOU (The Garden)...You must know what GOD SAID...Verse 1 (NLT) says, The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”...this means, you can't properly MANAGE or STEWARD that which God left in your hand if YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT HE SAID about HOW TO MANAGE IT...which means the INSTRUCTION was not to create LIMITATIONS the INSTRUCTIONS were to help in MANAGEMENT...understand this, to KNOW what He said means NO ONE or NO THING can CHANGE what YOU KNOW...The woman said, what she had heard but the SNAKE was able to shift or change man and woman's belief system because they REALLY DIDN'T KNOW..
2. MISMANAGEMENT of ENTRUSTED THINGS always LEAD to COVER UPS...Verses 7-9 (NLT) says, At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. 8 When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. 9 Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”...meaning the ABILITY to be TRANSPARENT in BUSINESS DEALINGS has been LOST....which not only makes you HIDE FROM GOD but it causes you to COVER UP things from those you are in RELATIONSHIP with.
3. MISMANAGEMENT of ENTRUSTED THINGS has CONSEQUENCES but in the CONSEQUENCES God ALWAYS EXTENDS GRACE...Verse 15 (NLT) says, And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”...the word of God says, "For the WAGES of SIN is DEATH but the GIFT of GOD is ETERNAL LIFE...which means EVERY ACTION has CONSEQUENCES but with GOD there is a COUNTER REACTION to our NEGATIVE ACTION that SHIFTS the OUTCOME...meaning God knows how to GIVE US CORRECTIVE ACTIONS that will ALLOW US to GET BACK on TRACK and PROVE that we are CAPABLE of MANAGING AGAIN....it also REVEALS that we have POWER OVER every ATTACK of the ENEMY through JESUS.
